Here is some work I have done in my spare time at school and during the summer. I have Updated my portfolio so if you haven't check that out here is some peaces. You can find it all at rgbeard.com

I have also started to play around with texturing and like a lot. Here is texture test I did on an old model.

My watercolor painting process.

Hi!

Here is the process of my latest  watercolor painting.

I first started going out on location to see the house from every angel and talk to the family about how they saw there house and what they liked about it. What angels and what parts of the garden they enjoyed the most.
Then I started some small studies on A5 300g watercolor paper.
The colors I use are Daniel Smith watercolors and with a square brush and a small round.
I went out to location 2 times in different weather and time of day to find some nice light and color.
The studies took about 30-50 min.

Then I started with the large watercolor in my studio. This time on a full sheet of 300g canson paper using a pencil I lay out the image. Then i use masking fluid on all the white parts.

Here I lay down the ground colors on wet paper. I focus on the largest areas that have the same color and value. I aim to create some soft transitions in the color and edges of these areas.

When that dried I continue with the local colors of the roof and building.

Then laying down the shadows of the house and grass. I think of the ambient light and that the colors of the shadows get some of the sky blue that cools them down. Thinking of the light angle as well.

Here is my setup in the studio with the colors studies at the side to refer to.

Here is the finished image with the on location studie under it.

Here is all the studies and the final.

And the final. If you have any questions you can contact me at redgreenbeard [at] gmail.com

model and to go in depth with the grass and plants. I learned most of  the technical bits through futurepoly on youtube.
So if you like to do something simular go here : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B4j5tzAIflU.
Unreal is free to play around with so try it out! (:

3D printing and painting

Here are the results for the 3d prints I made of Sobek.
They are about 100mm

The dark one is painted with acrylics

The lighter is printed without a head (because of the printer) so I sculpted the head with clay that hardens in the owen.
Then I painted it with white acrylics and then coats of watercolor.
There are some more pictures on my instagram : redgreenbeard

Low polygon sobek for print.

Here is a Lowpolygon model I made in 3ds max for the print. I tried to print the raw 3d model last week and had some technical difficulties with the printer. So this time I am hoping that the low poly will be faster and get a better result.
Here is the 3d model, you can change display options on the lite square in bottom right.

Sculpting Sobek in 3D

Here is the Sobek concept brought to 3D. I have really enjoyed sculpting and posing this character. It still has some work to be done on it, mostly making it usable for games and printing.
So hopefully that will be available for 3D printing in the future.
